About Frank Blackwell

I am a Connecticut-based photographer working in portraiture, street photography, and documentary-style observation of people.

I learned photography early, first through film, darkroom work, and the influence of my father, who was a portrait photographer. Over many years of photographing people in public and private settings, I became interested in portraits that feel direct, quiet, and true to the person in front of the camera.

My portrait work is simple by design. I do not want the photograph to feel overproduced or performative. I want the image to hold attention because the person in it feels present.

I also offer employee appreciation portraits, portfolio reviews, photography consultations, and street photography sessions for photographers who want practical, experienced guidance.

Frank Blackwell Photography is based in Connecticut and works locally, with select sessions available in New York City by arrangement.
